Regional Centre, Guwahati
Introduction
With a view to promote Games and Sports in North East, the Sports Authority of India had set up its Sub Centre at Guwahati in 1987 under the SAI North East Regional Centre, Imphal.Foundation stone of the SAI Regional Sub Centre, Guwahati was laid by Mrs. Margaret Alva, former Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India in the year 1987. INTRODUCTION In the year January 2013 Sub Centre, Guwahati is upgraded to Regional Centre, Guwahati. Various SAI Promotional Schemes are operative in four North Eastern States, namely Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh & Sikkim which falls under the administrative jurisdiction of this Centre. The Centre is built on 9.3 acres of land having the following facilities.
